Bangladesh move forward a milestone to the highway of digitization. Last month Bangladesh added Rapid pas ( Smart card) service in Public transport service. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has inaugurated the new services ‘Rapid Pass’ for the development of public transport sector.
This project carrying out by the Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) and the help of Japanese organization “JICA” at the cost of BDT 3.9 million. It will be provided for all types of public transport of the country gradually. Prime minister said this digital service is being expanded to the whole country to make the services comfortable for passengers.
Which route of Rapid Pass 2018
Rapid Pass (Smart card) Operation is running on BRTC AC Bus (Abdullahpur – Motijheel & Nobinagar – Motijheel Route), Omama (Abdullahpur – Motijheel Route) & Dhaka Chaka (Gulshan Circular Route).
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the new services ‘Rapid Pass’ in the public transport sector through a video conference on January 4, 2018. The name ‘Rapid Pass’ came from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
According to the data provided on the Rapid Pass website, the integrated e-ticketing system in public transportation is known as the Rapid Pass. It is also called IC card. IC card is an integrated circuit based smart card that can be used in other sectors including transport sectors.
Details of Rapid Pass 2018
This IC card is like a pre-paid SIM card or a debit card. Using this card, passengers will be able to get rid of the problem of standing in a long line for tickets. It will not be necessary to save time as well as to keep cash for rent.
In 2014, the government approved a project to launch e-ticketing system for the development of public transport. Rapid pass service was introduced under this project. Meanwhile, a ‘Rapid Pass’ smart card has been introduced for two air-conditioned transport of the capital’s Motijheel-Abdullahpur route. The Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) has prepared the card.
Prices of Use:
The usage of this card is simple, says Rapid Pass Authority. Users can use this card in DTCA approved public transport operators such as buses, trains, ferries etc.
To use the card, there will be a machine next to the bus driver in the bus. Passengers have to touch the card at the specific place of the machine once getting to the bus, and once at the time of getting off the bus.
The receipt will be released from the device after touching the card on the device when leaving the bus. The rental and card balance will be mentioned therein.
How to recharge:
If the balance is low , you can easily recharge or renew the GP Card from the Dutch-Bangla Bank branch or the ticket shop. Once the card is used there are not enough money, but once the card can be used. In this case, the next recharge will be automatically adjusted. The primary value of the card is 400 taka. Of this, 200 taka will be stored in the card as recharge. Users can recharge up to Tk 1 thousand and minimum 100 rupees.
Registration process for the Rapid Pass 2018
To get the service one have to completed registration process for the Rapid Pass Card. This will take 2 days aftr fill up registration form. It required to fill up information’s (Name, Parents name, address and mobile number). If the card is lost or damaged, the user can not claim anything without registration. It will take at least two work days to complete the registration process. There can be no claim before the registration process is completed.
